  kemet surf a ce mount t ant alum chip cap a cit ors kemet s family of solid tantalum chip capacitors is designed and manufactur ed with the demanding r equir ements of sur face mount technology in mind. these devices extend the advantages of solid tantalum technology to today s sur face mount cir cuit applications. t491 seriesindustrial the leaading choice in today s sur face mount designs. this pr oduct meets or exceeds the r equir ements of eia standar d 535baac. t494 serieslo w esr, industrial grade the t494 is a low esr series that is available in all the same case sizes and cv ratings as the popular t491 series. the t494 of fers low esr per for mance with the economy of an industrial grade device. this series is tar geted for output fil - tering. t495 serieslo w esr, surge r ob ust designed primarily for output filtering in switch-mode power supplies and dc-to- dc conver ters, the standar d cv t495 values ar e also an excellent choice for batter y-to-gr ound input filter applications. this series of fer several impor tant advantages: ver y low esr, high ripple cur r ent capability , excellent capacitance stability , plus impr oved ability to withstand high inr ush cur r ents. the ko-cap also exhibits a benign failur e mode, which eliminates the ignition failur es that can occur in standar d mno2 t antalum types. note also that ko- caps may be operated at voltages up to 80% of rated voltage with equivalent or better r eliability than standar d tantalums operated at 50% of rated voltage. the t520 series captur es the best featur es of multilayer ceramic caps (low esr and high fr equency cap r etention), aluminum electr olytics (benign failur e mode), and pr oven solid tantalum technology (volumetric ef ficiency , sur face mount capabil - ity , and no wear out mechanism). the ko-cap can r educe component counts, eliminate thr ough-hole assembly by r eplacing cumbersome leaded aluminum capacitors, and of fer a mor e cost ef fective solution to high-cost high-cap ceramic capacitors. t520 seriesk o-cap pol ymer t ant alum the ko-cap is a tantalum capacitor , with t a anode and t a205 dielectric. how -
